The Air Jordan 22 (XX2 or XXII) 5/8 Low - Black / Varsity Red - White were released on September 2, 2007, and retailed for $125. They feature a black and red color scheme, with an upper constructed from leather and breathable suede portions. They are modeled after the F-22 Fighter Jet, and direct similarities can be seen through the sleek, sharp aerodynamic cuts which, on the plane, allow it to cut through the air like ice. They also feature a rubber outsole which wraps around the toe and sides, providing great traction and pivoting ability. Other technical specifications include a phylon midsole, new and improved I.P.S. technology, and a diamond shape and extended heel counter that protects even the most vulnerable athlete from a rolled heel. The only difference is that since they are low top, they dont provide as much ankle support as the higher versions, so that heel counter is not as efficient.
